Collaboration on toy products
continues growth of Power Rangers brand
LOS ANGELES (June 12, 2012) – Saban Brands and Mattel have partnered to produce a
line of Power Rangers inspired Hot Wheels vehicles, targeted for release in 2013, that
capture the action and excitement of the Power Rangers series. The toys will be based
on the next installment of the series, Power Rangers Megaforce, which will air
beginning in 2013.
“With the many iconic toy brands managed by Mattel, our partnership with the
company is a natural progression for Power Rangers, which continues to grow at an
incredible rate,” said Elie Dekel, President, Saban Brands. “We look forward to working
with Mattel and introducing toys that are sure to excite Power Rangers fans
everywhere.”
“We look forward to celebrating the Power Rangers 20-year anniversary in 2013 with a
captivating and authentic line of Hot Wheels vehicles and play sets,” said Simon
Waldron, vice president marketing, wheels, Mattel. “Partnering with Saban gives us the
opportunity to bring two iconic brands together in a fun and meaningful way.”
Saban Brands’ Power Ranger Super Samurai, currently airing Saturdays at noon/11
central on Nickelodeon, has become the number one kids action series on television. In
addition, the company has seen dramatic growth in licensees and product categories
for its Power Rangers property since re-acquiring the brand in 2010.
Following its introduction in 1993, Power Rangers quickly became the most watched
children’s television program in the United States. Emphasizing the importance of
teamwork, responsibility and helping others by following the adventures of a group of
ordinary young people who “morphed” into superheroes, the series was seen in more

than 60 countries, translated into numerous languages, and was a mainstay in the
most prominent international children’s programming blocks.

Power Rangers Megaforce will air as Saban Brands celebrates the 20th Anniversary of
the Power Rangers franchise. The series will be helmed by Haim Saban, who created
and produced the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in 1993. Following its
introduction, Power Rangers quickly became the most-watched children’s television

My Thoughts:

No idea why Saban would not want to adapt Gokaiger since it’s perfect timing with the 20th season of Power Rangers, i do not want 20 years of power rangers to be just a little microsite of past moments, i want a season of it maybe in 2015 we will see something like that but i’m starting to doubt it.
